To quote Jeff Davidson, Colliers International residential project marketing director: “It’s been a long-time coming, but apartment living is certainly here to stay. An apartment is just as much a home as a house.”
This certainly applies to New Zealand where we are experiencing high demand for housing and the resulting surge in apartment and townhouse building. But along with these new style homes comes a different view of interior design and how the windows are dressed. Most apartments tend to be more modern in their decor and therefore favour more minimalist window dressings. Also living in an apartment, or townhouse with smaller rooms, can present a challenge: how to make your limited space seem larger. That is exactly where window blinds come in.
In this Auckland city apartment below they were faced with the challenge of large windows, but little surround area. Therefore blinds fitted inside the window reveal area were the natural choice. Featured in this apartment are ‘pure white’ sunscreen blinds combined with black componentry to compliment the black joinery. A very unobtrusive look that rolls nicely away at the top of the window.
